The MUKUNE wooden, power-free speaker is a seamless smartphone speaker carved from a single block of solid wood. Free from joints or assembled parts, it embodies the purity and integrity of natural material.

Cherry wood—beloved in Japan—is sourced from Yamagata Prefecture, home of Sugiyama Mokko. Its color ranges from a reddish brown to a yellowish brown, sometimes displaying a distinctive “genpei” pattern where the contrast between tones appears clearly. It has long been used for woodwind instruments, the bodies of Satsuma biwa, a traditional Japanese lute, as well as for piano and organ exteriors, koto bridges, and shamisen, making it exceptionally well-suited for acoustic applications.
